TheFootballGirl.com is an innovate site with the goal of making the NFL more accessible to women. We aim to do this by not focusing on one aspect of the game, but on everything! As you explore the site you’ll see we bring you a variety that includes all kinds of entertaining podcasts with players and other NFL VIPs, fantasy football tips, unique feature columns, and Melissa’s blog which focuses on the random goodness of the hoopla surrounding the game. We also have a Football 101 section for those new to the game, and we’re always available to answer your NFL and fantasy questions via our Forum.
The idea behind The Football Girl is there are a lot of “football girls” out there that care about the game beyond Super Bowl recipes and tight end jokes. So please poke around, and feel free to offer us suggestions. The Team
Melissa Jacobs - Co-Founder/Chief Editor
Melissa Jacobs has been a top sports producer for ten years. She got her start as an Executive Producer for KNBR Radio in San Francisco, managing the #1 rated Razor and Mr. T. In 2000, she moved to Bristol to be a Producer for ESPN Radio, which she quickly parlayed into creating the Talent Department for ESPN television, specifically SportsCenter. In 2005, she moved on to book for ESPN Original Entertainment and manage talent at the ESPYs. Melissa has produced for some of the biggest names in sports, including Dick Schaap, Dan Patrick and Jim Rome. She has won two Emmy awards.
More importantly, Melissa has been playing fantasy football for fifteen years, and she’s not even that old! She has been the commissioner of her own league for four years that includes the formidable Howie Schwab of “Stump the Schwab” fame. While Melissa doesn’t believe in the term “fantasy expert”, she would like to point out that she has won her league three of the last four years.
Jackie Emanuelson - Co-Founder/Operations
Jackie
Emanuelson has been a leading sales and business development manager
for industries such as Web marketing and IT & Finance System
Consulting. Native to Chicago where she started her career, Jackie
moved to San Diego to pursue the life of an entrepreneur. Her passion
and focus is on creating and working for start-up companies who share a
similar interest in new and innovative technology.
Jackie grew
up in the sports world having competitively played 2-4 sports each year
for 12 years. Her interest in football lies in the fact that it was
the only sport she was not allowed to play. Unlike Melissa, Jackie has
only played Fantasy Football for 2 years. She experienced first hand
the lack of knowledge she had, despite her love for the game. For this
reason, Jackie wants all like-minded girls to build confidence and
expertise in order to compete in the phenomenon that is Fantasy
