Catching up with Devin Hester

As mentioned in my Adventures in Miami: Part One post, I had the opportunity to attend Devin Hester's Pool Party at the Seminole Hard Rock.  The soiree, sponsored by Red Bull, had NFL players and model types galore.  Devin was nice enough to take a couple of minutes to answer some Bears related questions (and by a couple of minutes, I mean exactly two -- but hey, he was already settled in his kickin' cabana so the time was much appreciated).  The audio is hard to hear over the pulsating sounds by DJ Irie and Rick Ross, so I decided to transcribe it for you instead.

TFG:  I saw the news that you wanted to go back to returning kicks.  Have you talked with Coach Smith or Mike Martz about this request?

DH:   It's not that I want to take the full job of returner.  What I was saying is that I'd love to do some returns.  I don't needthe job full-time but every now and again I do want the opporutnity to take one back.

TFG:  How do you see yourself incorporated into the Mike Martz offense?

DH:  With the offensive genius that he is, he's always trying ot find ways to get his athletes the ball and opportunities for big plays.

TFG:  How do you feel about the rumors that Soldier Field may go the way of Astroturf?

DH: I like it (emphatically!). Because right now the field is really hard to run on, so if they want to make ti Astroturf, I think that would be a great idea.
